Privacy in plain language.

Moot stores your email address, username, profile information, and sign-in sessions. If you use Google sign-in, we receive the account information needed to identify you.

We store community proposals, pledges, memberships, posts, comments, votes, reports, and moderation actions. Creator applications may include the optional details you provide.

We use request metadata, including IP addresses and timestamps, for sign-in security, abuse prevention, and rate limits.

We use your information to sign you in, deliver confirmation and invitation emails, display discussions, count votes, send in-app notifications, and help moderators manage their communities.

Public community posts, comments, usernames, and public moderation logs can be viewed by anyone. Private and restricted community content is limited to eligible members. Do not include sensitive personal information in public posts or reports.

Reports are available to the community’s moderators. Moderation actions and reasons may appear in that community’s public moderation log.

Hosting, database, and email providers process information to operate the service. Google processes sign-in requests if you choose Google sign-in. Anti-abuse checks may process request information.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising targeting.

You can edit or delete your own posts and comments. Account settings lets you delete your account; community owners must transfer ownership first.

Account deletion removes your sign-in account, active sessions, memberships, votes, and direct signup and invitation records. Discussions and moderation history remain with anonymous attribution. Information you wrote into a post, comment, proposal, or report is not automatically removed from its text; edit or delete your contributions first, or contact support for help.

Backup copies and operational logs may remain until their retention periods end. Contact hello@moot.house to ask about your information, request access, or request removal of signup information without a forum account.
